RAW shooters - do you backup the original OOC files ?

I only started shooting RAW recently, and I am not yet very comfortable processing the original files - so I make a copy of every file I want to process - keeping the original OOC files as a backup.

I am fully aware of the possibility to choose the original "version" of a RAW file in Capture NX, it's just that I am an IT guy - ie, paranoid enough to make backups of everything

Do you trust your RAW converter to work on (and modify) the original OOC files ?
