Distant mountains
Sep 17, 2011

Last Fall I was up in a lake in Tomumne (sic) Meadows in Yosemite and saw a great mountains in the distance that were snow capped. I was using a D90 with an 18-200 lens. I cannot remember the f stops I tried and the shutter speeds I attempted but I could not get the mountains in the distance to show up in the pics I attempted. It was a cloudy day.

I am missing something here? What don't I know or what can't I understand about those mountains not showing up in the finished photograph? Did I have to lock focus or go to manual focus to get the mountains in the distance?

Thanks for any assistance.

Shoot when you can and take the day off if you find you can't.
