60D Shooting Video Manual Focus
Sep 16, 2011

Hi everyone. I'm more videographer than photographer, which is why I have just bought a Canon 60D. I love the depth of fields this camera achieves. Having played with the video mode for a couple days with a 50mm f/1.8, I'm generally very happy with the results. I am however finding it tricky to find and keep exact focus. What looks precise on the LCD is often not as precise as I thought when I view on my larger monitor screen during post production. On video cameras, there is a setting called 'Peaking' which provides a coloured outline around the object of focus. I don't suppose there is a similar setting on the 60D anywhere? Also, can you view through the eyepiece when shooting video, or is the Live View LCD the only way? Apologies if this has already been discussed on this forum, I did search but couldn't find anything. Thanks people.
