Yes, size is important, but so is sensor size. Otherwise, why bother with mirrorless cameras if the sensor is the same as the fixed lens compacts?

Exactly. It is a new class of sensors that may be an acceptable compromise for many. I have an S95, but could be in the market for a really small camera with significantly better IQ.

The lens selection is really disappointing though. It is like NEX all over again. I would be all over this camera if there was a 35mm and 50mm equivalent, with an f2.0 aperture or better.
