Yellowstone gear advice
Sep 7, 2011

I am going to Yellowstone National Park next week.

I like to take both landscape and wildlife photos (including birds).
Any suggestion what gear I should take with me? Below is what I have.

5D2

16-35L
24-105L
70-200 2.8 IS
100-400L
24L TSE-II
35L
85L
100L macro
500 f/4

1.4x TC
580EX flash
Gitzo 2531 with Mankin
Gitzo 0531 with RRS B-30
Wimberley gimbal
Cokin ND, grad ND filters

At this moment I am thinking of:

  • 24-105 for my primary landscape (more flexible than the 16-35)

  • For wildlife, tHinking between the 100-400 or the 500L (the 100-400 is more 'quick to shoot'. I am concerned the bulkiness of the 500L will cause me to miss many shots)

  • For tripod, the 2531 with ballhead (no gimbal)

  • ND, Grad ND filters
