It's just the way it goes. There are way too many brands of cameras for all to make it. Who goes looking for vivitar, ge, sanyo, etc? Well nobody but black friday customers loking for a loss leader. I was in a decent pawn shop yesterday and in one case there were 60 p&s models priced from $35 and up. I'll bet a year from now most will still be there.

Also went to two actual camera stores in Kansas City and they had hardly any used p&s models though one proudly displayed about 10 used film slrs with lenses. They were clean run of the mill models perfect for beginner photo classes. The actual camera stores in KC are a mear shadow in number, size, and gear carried to what they were in the 80s and 90s. If you took out all the bags and backpacks you could fit the rest in a large kitchen.
