I'll admit- I'm both surprised and disappointed at how expensive the NX200 is. But when you consider The price of Sony's 5N and 7, it makes sense- the NX200 does seem to be a solid middle ground between those two cameras.

Plus, along with a great design, it has a very high res sensor that definitely has better quality that its predecessor. And based on its continuous shooting capability and other information sources, it has a very large buffer, which also could indicate even better AF speed than before. Plus, there's an AMOLED touchscreen and new leather-looking grip that wraps from the front to around the back with the buttons.

the biggest issue is that the NX10 and NX100 were found SO cheaply that people took it for granted. Let's face it- the NX10 and NX100 are very unpopular cameras, even if their reputations as such are undeserved. And, considering the initial MSRP of $699 and $599 respectively, we were all lucky to be able to buy the cams at prices of sub $400. That's CRAZY cheap, and it's ridiculous to expect a very successful electronics company to continue to produce budget cameras that don't sell so a minority of customers can be happy they got the cams for a steal.

Above all (But related to previous paragraph), the price indicates that the NX200 is a serious contender. IF Samsung released another babble babble camera that seemed experimental, Samsung would never lose its reputation as a budget, good-for-its-street-price company- and what company can be successful with that kind of reputation? The NX200 is a breakaway and more importantly a message that the NX cameras are definitely on par- if not greater than- current competition. This is Samsung establishing itself as a good camera company- not a budget, "well, let's see about the street prices" company.

Admittedly, I am hoping the street prices will be cheap. But that's hoping- it's ridiculous and unfair to expect Samsung to continue producing and improving on camera lines that sell for sub $400. Do you know any companies that do that? No.
