Tethering Options / Issues

Hi all,

Curious if anyone can share their tethering experiences, especially successful experiences.

I'm currently using LR3 on a Mac with Nikon D3X. LR3 is not reliable. Intermittent at best. Yes, I turned off "auto import". Still doesn't work well at all. The UB ports are clearly going to "sleep" and LR3 can't wake them. Big bummer. Supposedly, Adobe is well aware of the issue.

I'm considering using the new PhotoMechanic "Live Ingest" in conjunction with Sofortbild...or... LR3 with Sofortbild. Both LR3 and PhotoMechanic appear to use a "watchfolder" feature. Sofortbild would make the initial capture.

Anyone have experience with either combination? Or something else? Is Nikon Capture Pro rockin'?
