Mosport Superbike Weekend
Aug 28, 2011
|
Ever since last year I've always wanted to try and photograph motorsports. I'm not a big fan of motorcycles but that change last Friday (Aug 19) when I managed to venture out to Mosport for the beginning of Mosport Superbike weekend. What a great place it was to be to see these guys up so close going over 120 kph around the track.
For the most part I used a borrowed 70-200mm L lens from a co-worker and for some tight shots the 400mm L lens on a Canon 40D body. Using the the 70-200 would have been enough but the 400 provided some really great close up of the riders. I only stayed for 3hrs watching the practice runs for Pro Superbike, Harley Davidson and 125cc class between turn 3 and 5. It's easy to get static shots but panning takes some getting use to.
Here are some of my keepers.
1. f8 | 1/400sec | 100 ISO | 400mm
2. f8 | 1/800sec | 200 ISO | 400mm
3. f14 | 1/160sec | 160 ISO | 144mm
4. f7.1 | 1/500sec | 100 ISO | 127mm
The rest are on this set.
