7d video editing software

Hello all.
I own a 7d and am very happy with it for stills as well as the video however, I have no way of editing video clips together and am looking for advice / suggestions on any free or inexpensive software out there that will work. I don't care much about any effects or fancy editing, just want something basic, maybe with some minor editing capabilities.
I am surprised that Canon didn't supply something with the camera that could do that.
I have a PC with MS XP, Service pack 3, Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz and 2 gig of RAM.
Help is appreciated.
