Anyone with HX100V with tips on Lightning Shots?

I'm thinking of taking some lightning shots. Does anyone have tips on taking it with the HX100V and photos to show off?

From what I've read so far, is to set lowest ISO 100, highest f stop and set shutter speed to 30 seconds then use a black card to cover and when lightning strikes you uncover and cover the lens again. Is this wrong...?
