Working with Composition - Critique if you'd like.

I braved the rainy season that is the Manx summer, and ventured out with my camera to take a picture of the well photographed object, The Jubilee Clock in in Douglas where I live on the Isle of Man. I'm working on improving my composition so rather than taking a snap shot in the way I see a lot of pictures of this clock - on it's own - I decided I'd try contrasting the old, colourful Victorian Clock with the bland but contemporary office block that sits across the road from it. From your expert opinions, am I heading in the right direction. Any constructive critique is more than welcome.
