I agree with most of the others that you do not need another lens to get fantastic shots. Remember, a newborn is very small and moves very slowly, so you don't need super fast shutter. No one has mentioned your 85/1.8... fantastic fast lens for natural lighting and close cropped shots... gives you a bit of working distance as well. I'd stick the 17-55 on there most of the time, but once you get home and have a bit of time to switch lenses and such, I'd try the 85. One of my favorite photos of our first son is one with the 85 @f2 where he and mom are looking into each other's eyes from a profile view with natural lighting from a nearby window.
