wet camera-need input
Aug 18, 2011

I fell in the river with my D300 and 18-200mm lens, fully submerged, yes, everything got wet, I dryed it all in a dehydrator for 24 hrs, the lens I could see was in bad shape, water spots! the camera fired right up, it would not recognize the auto focus on the lens, but would take pics, so I cleaned the sensor, put an old lens on (the camera did recognize the AF on that lens) and it took great pics,

the lcd on the back looked like crap, so I decided to send both in to get accessed on how much it would cost to clean up or repair, today, the lady said I probly did more damage to it cause I was taking pics with it after it got wet, could this be true? just wondering if that is possible?

I did buy a new camera and lens, and depending on how much it cost for the cleanup/repair, the old one will be my back up, any thoughts on this?
