Is this a normal level of sharpness for an SX230?

Most of the shots out of my SX230 are a little bit blurry when you look closely. Adding a bit of post processing sharpening significantly changes the image. I'm wondering if this is normal, or if it's a problem with my technique, or if something is wrong with my camera. I'm still happy with the quality of the pictures, but I'd like to know if they could be better.

This was taken at modest telephoto (85mm equivelant), manual settings, in good light, 1/60 at 4.5f. This image shows the sharpening issue well but I could point to dozens of others at different focal lengths that look similarly when viewing at 100%.

The first image is the crop of the original to show the detail. The second image is the crop applied with a little bit of sharpening for comparison. The third image is the full size picture for context.
