Sony Flash Advice
Aug 17, 2011

Hi guys,

I owned a Bower cheap $40 flash when I had my A200, but when I upgraded to the A33, I found I no longer had any control over the flash, and the metering was not adjusting for it. Everything came out overexposed. I sold it, and have been shooting without a flash for a while, which has eliminated a variable that caused my shots to be more hit or miss.

Fast forward to yesterday. While shooting a sunset, I found a pretty cool wooden lighthouse, and it needed flash because it was so backlit. The shot came out pretty good and impressed me. However I needed to be pretty close to the lighthouse to get any effect. So with that, I think I'll be getting an external flash. Thing is I don't want to spend $250 for the F43AM.

Could you guys recommend any 3rd part flashes for my A33? Thanks.
