Transfer Selected Files From Tiger 10.4.11 to New MBP Lion

My new MBP/Lion arrived and I wrongly assumed it would be a 123 process with Migration Asst. to transfer files from the old iBook G4 Tiger to the new MBP Lion. Was I wrong! First off the MBP Migration Asst. prompted that the software on the G4 needed to be updated before it could start migrating the files. Went to update the G4 software and found there is nothing newer so I'm up to date.

I thought what now? Then remembered I have an external drive with a back up of what I want to transfer so I grabbed the drive and went to plug in to MBP... you guessed it, no USB on the Pro. After that I went into brain freeze.

Has anyone out there in the Mac brain trust on DPR faced this before? What do I need to do?
