Performance of Hoya or Marumi 2 element +2 or +3 diopter close up lens

I currently have a canon EF 70 - 300 mm F/ 4 - 5.6 IS USM lens which I use in my canon 500D body. To enhance macro photography I am in a thought of purchasing an achromat. Have anyone tried Hoya or Marumi 2 element +2 or +3 diopter 58 mm close up lens with this lens? How is the performance in comparion to Canon Close up lens 500D? Initially I thought of Canon close up 500D 58 mm, but it is not available in market.
