USA vacation - can I leave my DSLR at home in the UK
Aug 4, 2011

Okay, trip of a lifetime for me - Tour of California, Nevada, Grand Canyon etc.

I bought the NEX 5 kit, with 18-55mm and 16mm pancake with a view to taking this with me instead of lugging around my D200 with 16-85mm and 10-20mm lenses - I suppose making it more of a holiday. However, family and friends keep telling me I'd be mad not to take the DSLR and that I'll regret it.

If I'm honest, although I am very impressed with the NEX 5, and actually love using it, at the moment I still prefer the images from the D200 but that could be because I have post processed raw files with Capture NX2 for years and am still getting to grips with Adobe Camera Raw.

As I have a preference for wide angle I would probably buy the wide angle adaptor for the 16mm pancake but will lose a little distance with not taking the 16-85 mm. Even if I do decide to take the D200 I would still take the Nex for video and fun!

Just your thoughts really to help me make a decision.

Thanks.
