I have been using the 18-55IS for travel. It is sharp, light and easy to use. The only lack I see in the lens for travel is that it isn't always wide enough. I picked up the Tokina 12-24 F4 for travel. At the wide end, it is pretty wide, and at the long end, it gives you a view that is close to normal. The constant F4 is an advantage as well. The Tokina lens is sharp and has good contrast.

I considered the 15-85IS, but wanted a wider lens. I generally use my zoom lenses for travel, and primes for other uses. I didn't want to invest in the extra cost of a 15-85 when it wouldn't get enough use to justify more money than the 12-24.

On the next trip I take to Europe or elsewhere, I plan to pack the 12-24 and either the kit lens or my 35f2.
