lx5 and Sony hx9v

I recently bought a sony hx9v for a travel camera and to double as a video camera to capture my sons wrestling matches. The video on the Sony is indisputably very good but the stills, especially low light, make me squirm. I was was considering returning the sony for a Pana. lx5 but am not sure about the video performance, especially indoor and with relatively fast moving subjects. Comments greatly appreciated.
