What would you do?

My present printer is the R1900 and it's great. However, I have been considering moving up to the 3880 to explore black and white and larger size printing. My plan was to keep an eye out for a good rebate on the 3880 ( isn't there usually a $300 rebate at some time during the year? ). Now I see there is a $1000 rebate on the 4900 and it can be had for $1149 with free freight. I am not a heavy printer but considering the final price differential, what would you do? If I should opt for the 4900 would clogging be an issue as I am not a consistent daily or even weekly printer.
