Switch from D5100 to XS ?

This may sound like a crazy move, but my wife and I just had twins and money is tight. I bought a D5100 from Amazon for $800 and was thinking of returning it for the XS v which is half the price. I have owned a Canon XSI in the past, so I am familiar with the brand. Any thoughts ?
