Watch it burn

I took this photo over a year ago. I always that felt it had potential - it just needed the right sort of treatment. After countless efforts to try and get it right, each attempt seemed flat and lacked the 'punch' and 'heat' that the image should convey. So after more on-off attempts over the next few months I forgot about it...until I was doing some sorting of my images the other day. I thought I'd have another go, and try for something more creative - and finally got something I am pleased with.

I'll leave you to figure out the moral of the story (if there is one?) Here's the image any way (taken with SD14, 15-30mm, processed in SPP and Bibble):
