If Canon made the G-series lens faster, most people would see the s95 for what it is- it is descended from a class of cams that was more common in the past, being compact bodies with that size sensor. For some reason, people won't group the g-series with the competitors, but group the s95 with the rest due to sensor size and wide angle lens speed.

Want a hot shoe? Pray canon speeds up the lens in the G.

Otherwise, the s95 is the last of a line of high end pocketable compacts that are not in the same class as the EX1, LX5, GRDIII, and XZ1.
