Am I the only one buying a smaller camera too?

I have a pretty extensive/expensive Canon 7D setup with some very nice L lenses. But still, I find myself every two years or so buying a small digicam (this time a Sony HX9V) to take with me on city trips, days with the kids at parks etc... Sometimes I find this a bit stupid, since I have such a nice camera which is capable of taking fantastic pics. But the fact is that a 7D with a nice L lens is a LOT of weight to carry around, and not always that practical to put in a bag or something too (like on amusement rides).

Who else leaves their expensive Canon at home to use a smaller cam on trips?
