Re: Comments on the 12-24mm DX
In reply to Zane Paxton, Jul 21, 2011

I use and also find it a bit on the soft side compared to other Nikkors. Nikon is losing market to Sigma in the APS-C dept, Sigma has now the very good UWA 8-16mm and the 17-50 f/2.8 stabilized, also pretty good.

I will sell the 16-35mm F/4 VR to get a 12-24mm F/4 DX

I bought the 12-24mm DX a while back and it was VERY soft; I have never been so disappointed in a lens. I sold it after using it twice. Yuck. The 12-24mm DX also exhibited fish-eye distortion whenever I tried to stitch images into a pano; that was a real deal-breaker fo rme.

The 16-85mm VR is actual very sharp and the VR was actually well appreciated. I find the 16mm end pretty useful for wide-angle work, although it has pin-cushion distortion, that can be easily corrected in ACR in CS5.
