Question for a carpenter or handyman (m/f)

Particle board / plywood / masonite and photo equipment

The master of the house has gracefully allowed me to get my own cupboard for my photo equipment. It comes with only one shelf and I need (ahem) more...

From the dark ages (and corners of my mind) I remember reading in a photo magazine something about avoiding one kind of “combined” wood because the gases from the glue slowly evaporating could potentially be lethal to either the electronics in cameras or the optics (cannot remember which).

I would hate to finally get a big, dedicated space to all my gear and then do something wrong about storage.

Is there anyone here that knows about woods and can advice me?

All input much appreciated.
