The X00 is not competition for the M9, which is an interchangable lens, rangefinder, digital camera that mounts what are unquestionably the world's best lenses. However...the M9 is, at the same time, a horrendously overpriced, oversized, overweight, underperforming pig of a camera. Who cares that the lenses provide astounding micro contrast when the camera is virtually useless at isos above 640? The camera handles and carries like a brick with a lens attached. And the price? For a camera that ends up needing lenses adjusted to focus properly on it? And that cannot produce clean images in low light? Get serious. IF the M9 mounted lenses and functioned perfectly out of the box; if it was sufficiently dust and moisture sealed; if it produced images as clean as those of the X100, or the Nikon D3, or the full-frame Canons; if it was the size and weight of an M6TTL or M7 - never lightweights; if it could 'take a lickin' and keep on tickin'; THEN it might be worth its price.

But does it make sense to compare the X100 and M 9? No, other than to show how much camera Fuji has produced for so little money - even if it is far from perfect, as compared to how little camera Leica has produced for so much money, and a far from perfect camera at that.

And I write all this as a former Leica film shooter.
