HX9v, 50i or 50p for editing and burning to bluray?

I am going on holiday in August and i will be taking my HX9v with me.
I am planning to shoot a lot of video as well as photos, and i need to know what shooting setting i should set the camera for, 50i or 50p.
As i understand that 50p gives the better resolution picture, but can it be edited and burned onto BD? when i set the camera to shoot 50p i get a message saying that it can not be burned onto bluray.
Also dose it take twice as long to render 50p than 50i on an edit program? i'm planning to use the latest version of Cyberlink power director 9, i know it works on 50i but dose it also manage 50p
