G3 picture size

Any suggestions for when to use which picture size on the g3 . The camera advises small for up to 8x10 Medium for 11x14, and large for 16x 20.
IS this reasonable.
I sometimes do "artsy" pictures for fun which I may blow up to 8x10. These are for myself not to sell.
Most of the time I do family pictures, snapshots, etc. I'll take pictures at friends weddings, etc. NOT as, but in addition to the professional, just so they can have pictures in a few days rather than 6 months from now.
What would you suggest for different situations.
By the way, I've had the camera for a week, and have been playing with it, and got some nice shots at the local park. I haven't done much indoors yet
