Mains power supply for Canon flashes
Jul 3, 2011

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search but couldn't find anything specific.

I want to buy or build a mains power supply to use with my 2 x 580 EX IIs at home.

I have enough electronics experience to build a regulated DC PSU of sufficient size (5 amps?) as long as I can get a cable with plug to fit the side of the flash. Not sure if this is Canon propriety design. Has anyone done this?

Alternatively, I could buy one if there are suitable mains PSUs on the market and not too expensive. Sometimes there's not much of a saving building stuff oneself.

Anyone have any advice about these two options.

Thanks in advance
