k-x + 55-300mm TOO NOISY for bird photography?????
Jun 13, 2011

I went to bird's sactuary located in Delta, BC, Canada.

I was with my k-x +55-300mm kit taking photoes of Sandhill cranes (

These are big birds, resident in that area, and are not scared of human. In fact, you can approached them within 10 feet and take very nice close-up photos.

Now, there were several other photographers, and couple of them were greatly annoyed with the screw motor noise and shutter sound made by my camera kit. They STARED at me every time press the shutter and refocus the subject; one shook his head and sighed, although he did not say anything to me.

I would understand him if the Sandhill cranes flew away because of the noise my camera made. But the birds were still there.

Is this typical of how photographers respond to non-HSM (SDM) lens and entry level DSLR???
