Seniors Citizens and Photography

I am starting a photo club at a senior living community. I am a novice when it comes to studio lighting. Can any experts out there please provide advice on a lighting package for indoor use that would be simple to use for portraits and other interior lighting projects. I would imagine we are not looking for studio flash systems, but other less complicated, but effective systems?
