Why Is the F31fd selling for so much?

What am I missing? Is it nostalgia? The lens isn't very wide, though in its time, it was likely very contemporary.

Newer cams have more sensitive sensors and a certain few are maintaining quality over MP count. Some are even smaller than the 31 and have IS. So tell me why this camera is selling for so much, and in some cases, a significant chunk that could go into a larger-sensor compact?
