Melrose, or how I came to love LA...[many images]

Big cities are fun; in my case because I live in a rural area (or extended suburbia) and often get the urge to get away from "cookie cutter" highway intersections with your standard shopping mall layouts. Mind you, there are benefits to being out in the desert or semi-arid country, but this weekend it was back to Melrose Boulevard, Los Angeles.

I wanted to catch a bit of rebellion and street art, and Melrose is a veritable war zone of guerrilla graffiti artists. The businesses in the area have learned to adapt and melded into this world of color and expression, if not even benefiting from it.

The series is a bit lengthy, but I sincerely hope that it is enjoyable and interesting.

Here goes...

The stop light was red (K-7 @ 1/125=shutter blur at times), but I took the shot anyways...

Just another typical gutter scene...

"Johnny Rockets", always a fun motif...

Leftovers...

Table for two...

A perfectly serviceable pair of sneakers, maybe...

Ramble on...

Six weddings...

Positioned for maximum effect...

Corner of opportunity...

Homer the Aquarian...

From spray-can to art...

In the back-alley...,

Even here you are not safe from aliens...

...or the tow-truck.

Ink rules, and it is war...

Oxymoron...

Spinning the meaning (or whatever you see in it)...

DaLai says "It's all good"

Teddie Bears...

Yeah, just some doves...

but then it's all about being there at the right moment.

Kal-El to the rescue...

...and then it's back to the Clark Kent disguise.

Keep on shooting...
