Enlarging the Playback Image

Hello - I have the NEX-5
I was wondering if there is a way to adjust the default enlargement setting on playback. When I enlarge an image it always begins at a high magnification and then I have to dial it back to a more manageable size.
I would like it to default to minimum magnification and let me enlarge with the thumb wheel.
I have the original firmware. Was this issue addressed in the newer firmware?
