Question about XZ-1
Jun 1, 2011

I have a Pana FZ30 which I still consider as a very viable camera for most things except it is big and pretty much useless for indoor ambient light photography due to ISO400 being just barely usable in brightish light and unusable in dim light.

The XZ-1 is a very tempting camera with it's fast lens, but the FZ30 has a fast lens too and it isn't up to the task of normal photography indoors without a flash, especially when subjects may move. Ambient light photography inside is pretty much out too unless there is a lot of lighting. To get around this I use a Puffer with the FZ30 flash and can get semi ambient, fairly natural looking indoor pics.

My question is: Is the higher iso settings for the XR-1 clean enough and with enough detail that it can be used as an indoor ambient light camera and still get pleasing pics without a flash?

I am guessing no because:

XZ-1 CCD is 1/1.63 10M
FZ30 CCD is 1/1.8 8M

Which is pretty much the same.
