Using Stacked TC's on a 60D

I am herein presenting two shots of the same subject, same distance, taken just a couple of minutes apart, to give you an idea of the magnification and possible IQ hit of stacking 2 pcs. of the Kenko Pro 300 DG 1.4X Teleconverter on top of the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L, Aperture Priority, using the 60D on a Gimbal Head and tripod in available light. These images are OOC, not cropped, converted using DPP and re-sized and saved using Paintshop Pro X3:

First shot: Bare Lens; 0.025 sec (1/40); f/5.6; FL 400 mm; ISO 1600; +2/3 EV

Second shot (Using LIVE VIEW AF): With TC's Attached (Both TC's are taped); 0.1 sec (1/10); f/5.6;Effective FL 784 mm; ISO 1600; +2/3 EV

I will let you decide whether there is a significant degradation of IQ and the merits of having a bigger image to start off with.

What do you think?

Sincerely,

Bobby K.
