There is an element of truth in this, but not stated exactly as such. The reason why neutral looks best is because it is most faithful to the numbers coming off the sensor. Most professionals begin with a RAW capture using neutral or "linear" (in the CaptureOne or ACR way of speaking), and then apply tone curves judiciously.

I have not seen evidence in any of your photos of a deficiency in the camera or design. I do suspect that a lot of your indoor shooting involves CFLs and other non-color correct lighting. Some of these bulbs cannot be color balanced no matter how hard you try. Look to use bulbs with color rendering index (CRI) of 92 or higher. Incandescents can balance, but only a handful of CFLs can even come close to balancing.
