I'll go out on a limb here but I don't give a dam...

Many, many years ago (70's?), I bought a Star-D tripod, exactly like the one pictured here:

It's all aluminum, easily adjustable, and rock solid in any situation.

And with the camera mounted and with one hand on each lever, I can snug up the locks "just enough" to put some resistance on them but still be able to pan left right and up down for video use.

Then give the locks a slight twist to lock them in position, and it's like having the camera mounted on a brick wall.

No, not as light as the new $1000 wonders, but you can still buy these in good condition today for well under $100.

I've never been one to throw money at a problem if it's simply not necessary.
