A55 dies after 21.000 acutations
May 19, 2011

Altogether a happy user of the A55 (having migrated from a SONY DSC-R1 and A350), I bought the A55 in December and have taken it to just two trips. On my recent visit to the UK, where I planned on recording the colour feast of rhododendrons and azalee, the A55 died in the middle of taking shots in a Scottish castle. Viewfinder went black immediately after exposure and that was it. I tried two different batteries (original SONY), but the camera is absoultely dead. I don't even get the 'acknowleding click' when inserting a new battery.

It is still under warranty, so I have taken it back to the dealer, but it was vastly annoying that I spend two weeks in UK visiting castles and gardens without my camera.

I have read about shutter problems of the A55, but wonder whether other users have experienced the grilled electronics on that model.

Thanks for sharing your insight or similar experience.
