Can firmware update fix the problems with x100

I have an opportunity to buy a new camera two weeks from now in Singapore. With the ambiguous reviews of the x100 it is not really an option as of now, but however, if future firmware upgrades can fix all or most of the problems it might still be worth considering?

Any qualified views on whether firmware updates can/will fix most problems in the future? Especially the sluggishness, and those little things that can then drive us crazy in everyday use, can they be rectified? Or do we have to wait for future versions of the camera itself?
