Canon BG-E8 Battery Grip - Flawed
May 17, 2011
|
Decided to purchase battery grip for 550D. Needed for some remote work where getting chance to recharge is potentially limited.
Decided to purchase Opteka version of the offical Canon model; based on some excellent reviews and the fact that they "share the official mold". First impressions - excellent (albeit the selector wheel felt "different").
Within 15 mins the base plate holding down the "knurled screw" had lifted - effectively they had pulled the screw out of the plastic housing. I hadnt done anything beyond attaching to camera (albeit with zoom in place) and practised.
Sent back (full refund) and working on the assumption that "you get what you pay for", I almost hit the purchase button for the original Canon model when I read an Amazon review stating exactly the same problem.
Understandably, I dont want to spend twice, to get the same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is is a know flaw?
