Possible death of FF bodies seen

Canon, the champion of all things FF has done a possible about face. With FF body sales being a little flat, and most competition happening in the APS-C field Canon has filed a patent for their first long pro telephoto in APS-C only format (if you don't count the 400/4 DO).

Notice the image size of 21mm and the highly refractive elements typical of a DO series lens. Also note the less than 350mm length. Their FF 300mm lenses are around 225mm in length so this would be a real lightweight compared to a FF 600/5.6 lens. Should cost way less than a FF 600/4 also. 1 stop with the kind of hi-ISO performance of current APS-C camera will not be a liability.
