Macro on the cheap

Eventually, I want to invest in a dedicated marco lens in the 90-105mm range. It may be a while before I can do that, so I picked up a set of cheap close-up filters a few months ago so I could experiment. I think I paid around $20 for the set of 3.

I stacked the +2 and +4 and mounted, on my Tamron 28-75 and found this little guy munching on my fence. The shot came out nice but I wish I would have used a larger aperture as the DoF is too thin. I'd guess f/11 probably would have been about right and I would have still have a faster enough shutter to hand hold. I guess that how you learn

It's the first time I've ever shot an insect up close, so I'm pretty happy with it.
