canon sensors nowadays are not setting any bar neither in APS-C, not in FF deparments nowadays, so who cares about comparing anything w/ canon ? Sony and Nikon sensors are the ones to measure against.

Who knows? No one knows what sensor 7D III and 5D II will surprise us (just hope that it won't surprise us with no improvement).

While I agree Canon's sensor is not as good as the Sony one in controlling the noise in the low ISOs, they are on par on every other aspects, some are even better.

People saw the sensor of K5 and D7000, D3X, D3S are amazing by the 14EV DR and take it for granted. The others, having 12EV is actually a lot already.

Sony has some very unique way to handle the signals so it has very low read noise. I think that is patented so the others cannot simply 'copy' it. They have to reinvent it in some way.
By the way, 7D's sensor is actually quite good.
