Sigma 70-200 F2.8 prices

I have been away from these forums for some time and I just noticed that the price of Sigma 70-200 F2.8 lens went up from $799 to $949 from August 2009 until now. It is similar with Tamron 70-200 lens. What is the reason for these significant price changes, is it mostly the US dollar exchange rate or a supply and demand thing?
