GOOD General Lighweight Lens for D5100?

I have the kit lens (18-55) for my 5100 and not horribly impressed. I like light lenses for sure! So as far as I know (please correct me if wrong) besides fixed focal length, that leaves the 16-85 or the 18-105. I think the later is lighter and has nearly as good IQ as the 16-85? Any thoughts on this or recommendations? thanks!
