Can the D7000 deliver the money shot(s)?
May 9, 2011

I took my D7000 out for some real (and paid) work at a wedding I shot as a 2nd photographer this past Saturday. I paired it with my D700, and brought the D300 just in case the D7000 lived up to all the "it can't focus, it can't meter, hot pixels galore, oh, no!" hoopla one hears around various fora. Well, it performed flawlessly. At 14-bit RAW, it is way snappier than the D300 (which had the whole day off). Pair the D7000's high ISO with fast glass (85 f1.4D and 135 f2.0 DC), and I barely used flash.

Here's a stunner of a shot it gave me outdoors, under overcast skies (with the 135 f2.0 DC):

Here's one indoors earlier in the day, close up with the 85 f1.4D:

Oh, heck, here's another, indoors, again with the 135 f2.0 DC...

Hmm. Upon closer examination, that one's kind'a blurry. Maybe all those rumors are true... kidding! Yes,during the 1st dance, I purposefully dragged the shutter big time for that one (1/13 sec) -- with this type of PP in mind -- to get this dreamy effect.
